GROWTH
GROWTH INTRODUCTION......
Growth refers to the biological changes that are observed as people grow from babies to adults. In other words, growth describes the process of young organisms growing larger in appearance. This includes observable changes, such as growing taller and gaining mass.
The process of increase in size, mass or height of an individual is known as growth. It can occur by cell division or cell expansion. Intussusception and accretion are the two types of growth. When there is addition of material and formation of the cells inside the organism, the growth is known as intussusception.
Growth and development are important because they are essential for individuals and societies to thrive and reach their full potential. Growth refers to physical changes and expansion, while development refers to the acquisition of skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
The 4 main types of growth and development?
- Physical – body growth that includes height and weight changes.
- Mental – intellectual development, problem solving.
- emotional – refers to feelings and includes dealing with love, hate, joy, fear, excitement, and other similar feelings.
social – refers to interactions and relationships with other people.
Example of growth in living things
An example of biological growth is a plant seed developing into a fully mature tree. At a cellular level, cell growth means an increase in size or an increase in number
The conclusion of growth?
Continual change is the essence of life. The cessation of growth at the end of adolescence is not the end of development. Development of physical prowess, skill, and mental processes continues for many years. Even middle age does not interrupt development. Inevitably a process of involution begins
